In 1900, Izaak van Melle started a confectionery factory diagonally opposite his father's bakery in Breskens (province of Zeeland).
Where he first made everything by hand, he soon switched to making machine candy.
In 1912, together with his brothers, he exported a large part of the candy to distant destinations.
They like to be inspired by other countries and discover the sweet toffees in England.

Once home, they get to work with many different flavors, including toffee, licorice and vanilla.
The fudge is individually wrapped in wax papers. This is where popular sweets were created that everyone still likes to eat today.
